Moody’s Delicatessen is one of the most highly regarded delis and restaurants in the Metro Boston area. Their commitment to offering high quality charcuterie, catering, and dining experiences to their customers has earned them a stellar reputation. Seeing how mobile apps were changing the restaurant and food service industries, Moody’s wanted to invest in a mobile application that would augment their ability to process online orders, while also providing a convenient way for customers to order ahead.
The app would require a streamlined user experience and interface, a flexible backend that allowed for order processing, and online payment processing. These features would help ensure the app would be easy to use for Moody’s employees and their customers.
Location & GPS
When it comes to user-focused food service apps, it’s crucial for the software’s UI/UX to be easy to navigate while staying true to a restaurant’s branding language. Our designers worked closely with Moody’s to capture the style and design queues present on Moody’s website and other marketing materials. The designers also had to effectively showcase Moody’s menu items, including their daily specials, putting them front and center in the overall interface.
Another important aspect of the app we spent time perfecting was making the software backend accessible to Moody’s employees. The app had to adapt quickly in order to accommodate the addition and removal of menu items, as well as easy updating of the daily specials. Stripe allowed the app to handle major credit cards, as well as online payment services like PayPal. Through iteration and client feedback, these features were implemented and tested successfully.
In its final and released form, the Moody’s app allows customers to tailor their experience to their current location. Users can order and pay in-app for pick-up, all through a clean and accessible user interface. Customers can also browse a location’s specials of the day from within the app. Finally, the app will notify users in real time about when their orders are ready to be picked up. For Moody’s, the app has become an indispensable part of their business. Its utility and practicality help optimize the deli’s workflow, while also providing a polished and accessible experience for their customers. The application is a textbook example of how mobile software can help businesses expand their capabilities and better serve their customers at the same time.
