Rumors are flying that say Apple is looking to Sharp for IGZO LCD panels to build the next iPhone and iPad. The IGZO LCD panels will make for thinner, high-resolution displays with low power consumption.

Earlier in the month, sources said Apple was looking for a new duel LED design. This would be to serve as the backlight for the third generation iPad. It would be necessary to have two LED lights to maintain what the iPad currently has for brightness.

Sharp and Apple could team up for tablet and mobile displays. Sharp says the main use for IGZO displays is for tablets.  As time progresses the two companies will begin to develop OLED panels. At first, OLED displays are only expected to appear in Apple's smaller portable devices, but projected to grow into larger devices in the coming years.
