According to published reports, Microsoft plans to introduce a range of new tablets powered by its Windows 7 operating system at January's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Microsoft will attempt to go head-to-head with Apple's iPad as well as Google's Android devices.

The New York Times, citing unnamed sources, has reported the tablet device will be "similar in size and shape" to the iPad, but will include a slide-out keyboard. iPads and Droids currently rule the market; will Microsoft’s tablets become a contender?
