It was a shocking Friday morning when many stores had to pull the HP TouchPad off the store shelves because the product manufacturer decided overnight to discontinue the device. The general manager of Computers, Ben McIntosh, said that the decision to stop selling the device was based on a reaction to the uncertain future of the WebOS platform. “Our WebOS devices have not gained enough traction in the marketplace with consumers,” said HP CEO Leo Apotheker in a conference call on Thursday. The product may have fallen through for whatever the true reason behind all of it is, but if it counts for anything I thought their marketing techniques were in the right place. I quite enjoyed the HP TouchPad commercials with Lea Michele and Russell Brand. We won’t be seeing those much longer. Good thing they still have Glee and Katy Perry I suppose!
