girl-with-a-phoneAccording to a recent report by ComScore, Android has surpassed BlackBerry and is now the leading Smartphone in the United States. The report indicates that as of the first quarter of 2011, there are 72.5 million people in the U.S. with Smartphones.

The data shows that Android has snuck ahead of BlackBerry with 31.2% of the Smartphone market, while BlackBerry has a steadily declining 30.4%. Apple’s iPhone comes in with 24.7% of the market, although this number will surely increase now that Verizon Wireless has picked up the iPhone. Congratulations, Android!
