Finally ready to upgrade to a fabulous new smartphone and decided the iPhone is the right fit for you? Have you seriously researched and pondered the options and now you’re ready to actually buy one? Well, you might want to wait.

Analysts are now saying that they believe not one but TWO new iPhones will be released in September!  Deutsche Bank’s Chris Whitmore is the analyst at the forefront pushing the dual release theory. He believes that one of the released versions of the iPhone will be a mid-range version called iPhone 4S and the other will be the iPhone 5, a brand-new device (keep an eye out for a future blog post about the iPhone 5).

The iPhone 4S would be cheaper and has the potential to be a major candidate for the prepaid market. Whitmore believes the phone will cost about $349 and be available unlocked. The price might seem steep, but may be worth it to those who don’t want to be tied down to a two-year contract with a carrier. Because of this, the phone might prove valuable to the people across 98 untapped countries that value prepaid services over postpaid and are unable to afford the high costs of an unlocked iPhone 4 – in China, it costs a whopping $770!

“With Nokia and RIM struggling, the time is right for Apple to aggressively penetrate the mid-range smartphone market (i.e. $300-500 category) to dramatically expand its [total addressable market] and market share,” Whitmore wrote in a note sent to investors.

The launch of both iPhones is expected to come in just a few months and could be well worth it for those who can wait just a little bit longer. Can you wait?
