According to speculation, Amazon will launch an Android App store Tuesday, April 5.

The app store will be facilitated by reviewers and operate inside Google’s Android Marketplace. What does this mean? Customers will be able to purchase apps from directly or from an Amazon app that will be available on any Android Smartphone.

Amazon’s app campaign also claims it will undercut the prices at Google’s Android Marketplace to lure additional consumers. Logistics on Amazon's potential savings have yet to be revealed.

So, will this be a lucrative deal for app developers? Possibly, since Amazon will be moderating the app content in the store – if it doesn't like an app, it won't sell it. For a customer, a developer’s app stocked on Amazon’s shelf could represent a higher quality than the apps that, well ... didn’t make the cut. Only time will tell.
