As evidenced by mainstream media, CES 2011 was certainly the year of tablets and 3D televisions, and of course the iPad. Although Apple was not present at the show, it’s safe to say you couldn’t walk a few feet without seeing an iPad case or accessories on display.

Better late than never! Windows Phone 7 went on sale in November of 2010. Smartphone functionalities include GPS, calendar syncing and over 5,000 apps to date. In comparison to iOS and Android, the Windows Phone 7 dropped the ball on multitasking, but it does include large, bright, easy to read thumbnails, which sets itself apart from competitors.

Apple has announced the release of ‘iAd Producer’, a tool that can be used by publishers to simplify the creation of campaigns for companies using the iAd mobile advertising platform. The app, running on Mac OSX, will provide complete end-to-end workflow for creating and implementing iAds.

Microsoft co-founder, Paul Allen, was given until December 28th 2010, to revise a lawsuit he had filed in August against 11 companies including AOL, Apple, eBay, Facebook, Google and Netflix. A U.S. District Court Judge had deemed the original lawsuit insufficient; the last minute revisions were submitted on 12/28.

Privacy concerns have been raised after the Wall Street Journal recently published results from an investigation into more than 100 apps for the iPhone and Android phones. The results indicated that more than half of the apps they investigated were sharing the users personal data without permission. The personal data shared includes the age, gender and location of the Smartphone user.
